Ruud Hertel is except for the daily management responsible for scientific and clinical consultation concerning R&D as well as regulatory affairs.

He has developed several innovations in implantology among which are two highly successful implant surfaces.

Equinox medical technologies BV is especially active in the Middle-East, UAE, Iran India and South-East Asia. Dr Hertel is well known in these regions for his presentations and courses on Implantology.

Ruud Hertel is well known in the international lecture circuit and has numerous presentations, courses and seminars to his name. He has more than 50 publications among which several books on implantology.

Here Ruud Hertel specialized at the "Abteilung für Zahnärztliche Prothetik" (prosthodontics department) in prosthodontics and started placing his first implants while being trained by prof dr dr H. Spiekermann. He also gained his PhD at the same department.

In the mid-80's the department was selected as the clinic of choice for the dental treatment of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan who would come for checkups and treatment to Germany every summer. Ruud Hertel was part of the small inner circle at the department taking part in the treatment of the Sheikh.

During this time he was also the dentist for over a dozen other members of the royal family including several sons and daughters of Sheikh Zayed and ministers from the political cabinet.

Ruud Hertel was also responsible for the first time development and organization of the new dental curriculum at the university of Aachen for the department of dental prosthetics. All pre-clinical and clinical courses had to be designed and teaching materials were developed by him.
